Can you please give more detail about the procurement initiative that brought you this success?
Our New Directions Education team are the appointed ‘managed service provider’ to the education sector throughout Wales. We work in partnership with schools and colleges across the country to provide supply staff on both a long and short-term basis. Our aim is to provide a quality service at a competitive price that allows the day-to-day recruitment processes for schools and colleges to run as safely and as smooth as possible. We are heavily invested in our community and work to support their objectives with our values underpinning everything we deliver – quality, innovation, community, integrity and respect.

What did it mean to your organisation to win a GO Award?
We were highly commended in the ‘Best Service’ category in an extremely impressive shortlist. To be shortlisted was a fantastic honour, to then be highly commended was overwhelming. Receiving acknowledgement from the wider business community for our efforts as an organisation is exceptionally humbling.

Have you used your success to develop your team or department over the past year? If so, how?
The awards we apply for serve to inspire our staff. 2016 was an exceptionally successful year for our team with regards to our applications. It was also the year we were named as a gold standard employer by Investors in People (IIP). For our team, awards are our acknowledgement that we are ‘getting it right’. Additionally, when talking to our customers we are able to celebrate our achievements and in turn this engenders a sense of trust, which is exceptionally important in our sector.

Why do you think the GO Awards matter for the procurement sector? Would you encourage other organisations to enter this year?
The GO Awards celebrate excellence and a commitment to best practice. It is important that these awards are continued to raise standards and expectations. Additionally, they present a fantastic opportunity for businesses and organisations like ours to meet likeminded companies and share knowledge.
